The curriculum of fashion designing course is not specific while it varies from institute to institute. But broadly it is divided into 1,2 and 3 year programs. Take a look to understand it better.

First Year

The first year is considered as the foundation year of the course. It mostly consists of the introduction of the fashion industry to get the students acquainted with the industry structure. Various elements in the design, such as garments, textures, colours, patterns are taught in a theoretical way. Understanding the textile and pattern making is the base of the fashion design career. It is essential to learn sewing from machine to the finished garment for garment construction. Fashion Illustration is another in-depth practical exercise to present the design ideas in the form of illustration.

Second Year

The second year in fashion design courses consists of more practical subjects like Fashion Marketing Management, Fashion Communication focusing on Fashion Business and Brand Management. Students will learn the application of textile study to various apparels with a detailed study of textiles, accessories and jewellery. Students get to adapt to advanced technical skills in the design process.

Third Year

The third year of a bachelor's degree in fashion design consists of industrial garment production, merchandising quality controlling, marketing and product costing. It also consists of how you can promote your brand or designs in this field in various fashion lines, magazines, shows. Students get to learn how to design marketing campaigns and do advertising on various media platforms. By third year students start to get hands-on experience and can easily convert their idea to a finished product. Subjects like visual merchandising and retail marketing cover a lot of business skills with which the future fashion designers can display and market their design work.
