In today’s blog, we will talk about the eligibility criteria for fashion designing courses and the process of getting admitted to various courses in Fashion Designing, available to students after clearing their HSC examinations. Most of the renowned fashion designing institutes in India, and especially in Pune, have the basic requirement that the students seeking admission to courses in fashion designing have passed their Higher Secondary Certificate examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% of marks. Apart from this basic requirement, most institutes either require students to clear one of the national level entrance examinations or their own entrance examinations.

Some of the common entrance examinations and their structure is elucidated below.

1. Design Aptitude Test (DAT):

DAT is conducted in two rounds. The first round consists of the prelims, which are followed by the mains. National Institute of Design (NID) requires students to clear DAT for admission to their courses. Many renowned fashion designing institutes require students to clear this examination for admission to their diploma courses as well.

2. All India Entrance Examination for Design (AIEED) :

This entrance examination is conducted by the ARCH Academy for Design. For undergraduate level courses, AIEED is conducted in three rounds, the first one being the General Aptitude Test or GAT, followed by the Creative Aptitude Test or CAT, and lastly, video interaction through Skype for introducing yourself.

3. National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFT) Entrance Examination :
